We quickly decided that creating a mobile bar service with a difference was the way we wanted to go. Between the two of us, we’ve been to enough events where a mobile bar of some description has been on offer. Some have been good, some have been awful.
We wanted to create something that doesn’t exist in Dundee, Angus, Perth or Fife. We wanted to turn the mobile bar into a central part of a successful event.
It took a while to source our bar, but it was worth the wait. If you haven’t already done so – find out more about the star of the show – our bar.
I’ve spent the majority of my career in the catering and licensed trade indusrty. I started working in the well known Globe Bar when I was a student in 1994. In 1995 I set up and ran my first mobile bar event for Dundee University. I moved on to work at the very popular Fishermans Tavern in 1996, where I became bar manager in 2000.
I then took on my own bar, The Kinloch Arms Hotel in 2007. Carried out many outdoor bar events most noteably weekend beer festivals three times a year with attendances of 1000 people daily.
This involved organising and project managing the entire festival from start to finish for all events. As a result I’ve now had experience of successfully managing outdoor beer festivals for 13 years.
Although I’m now happily retired, I couldn’t resist the entrepreneurial pull of this unique opportunity. I worked in a number of Senior NHS posts in Scotland, Wales and England. My job was to work with NHS trusts that were failing to help them put into place successful recovery plans.
From there I worked as a management consultant for IMD where I took my public sector knowledge and applied it to private sector.
I’m a proud Dundee boy who wants to bring something different to events throughout the city and beyond. I’ve been let down by poor mobile bars in the past and want to offer something totally unique. We’ll do it better and will take pride in bringing the bar to you.
